Shropshire Sojourn, June 2026

Now we are well and truly settled in to coastal living in Kessingland it was time to get out and about in the motorhome again. We’ve always loved Shropshire for its hills, quirky towns and quietness so we planned an open-ended trip - which turned out in the end to be 10 days. The first few days were roastingly hot with sleeping in what is essentially a metal box being a bit of a challenge! Despite that we had lovely days in historic Ironbridge , Shrewsbury and then the quirky Hawkstone Park Follies just to the north. Our visit to Shrewsbury Prison was superb and will linger long in the memory. Do go if you’re in the area. The whole town is fantastic with history around every corner, great walks beside the River Severn and lovely parks and gardens. We stopped overnight beside the Severn too the east of the town centre which was a great little spot.
